This is a doublewide trailor, we've been working hard trying to de-trailor it..this is our new laminate floor that was put down in this kitchen and adjoining dining room and washroom I need all the help I can get from anyone. I want my dining room to co ordinate with kitchen of course, here is my dining room pic next. I love the old soft greens and creamy yellows, Need to know what kind of curtains to put on kitchen window and dining window. I'll also put a pic of my bar were adding. my husband builds cabinets in his shop and he is great. he will even build me to pot rack you'll see in the pick. Any advice you have I would treasure it. I look a country cottage look..HELP

the pic on the right used to be frig and cabinet down the wall. It will be now frig and shelves with pretty cottage brackets..should I paint these shelves you think are put the same golden pecan stain the cabinets will have on them..I'm thinking paint..
that bar I pictured will be between the dining room and kitchen ours wont be as wide as that one bu t will look very similar..I love it.If you don't mind answer quick my husband builds cabinets fast lol

I would imagine after you paint the textured wallpaper with a copper tone paint, you will need to protect that finish. After all, paint is not waterproof and any washing done to remove splatters will affect the paint. I would look for a marine (or boating) sealant which is formulated for use in a wet environment. Should be charming!

Sorry but I say no to this idea,simple reason ,you are better off purchasing stick on tiles for this project ,Wallpaper like anaglipta on a back splash will not be very easy to clean especially if there is a stove or an electric frying pan near by it ,splatters of oil and grease will harden on it and when you clean it the paint will also be removed .

Menards carries metal-look sheets of embossed plastic in a number of finishes (copper & stainless steel for sure) that might get you the look you're going for and save you the step of painting what you put up. Could be worth a look!

I did say I plan to put a sealant clear coat on this after I do my paint and paint technique. Any paper is going to show stains where water and grease get, I Know this...I have planned for this and I assure you there will be a top coat of clear that will seal it and make it work like I want, I know this because my mom did it twenty yrs ago and her's still looks like new. I am interested in the how to of the copper effect..I am sure I paint it copper then I put a patina rubbed in all the grooves on it the go back an wipe it off gently. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out, you may be surprised. I may paint the tile look wallpaper green and go back with a patina rubbed in and lightly wiped off in order to keep the patina in all the grooves of it..Ya'll take care..from the sticks of Georgia, Donna

Google search it, I just did and found Epbot.com, they had a how to. They did a copper paint base with black over it and then added the green which turned out looking like patina'd copper. Looked pretty believable too.

well I painted a piece of this tin textured wallpaper with the pale olive and and put the copper patina on it and the gently wiped some off and Whalla...here's what I got...attached pic ......now I have all the wallpaper up and I finished painting it all pale olive...I'm waiting for it to dry..its almost dry now and I'm fixing to put the copper patina on it..the a clear satin polyurethane...well I'm mighty proud of myself. I had a lot of people telling me it wouldn't work,,but it did hahahaha..Thanks to Donald here. Ok now take a peek at it....

Paint isn't the best option to use as backsplash. Although this might be a solution for a little while, it will constantly need to be touched up. This is why tile or a non-porous material is usually used as backslash because it resists stains, spills, splatters, etc. better. It is also easy to clean and wears better. If you go with this option just make sure you're aware that you must be current with the upkeep of the paint.

I don't know if this would be helpful now that you've done such a beautiful job of painting the wallpaper, but I saw this go by this morning. These are tiles that look like metal and they come in a variety of styles. The picture was quite beautiful so I'll pass it along. I do not know about cost, but they are very eyecatching and would be easier to clean for a backsplash. You'll have to post pictures when you are done. Good luck!

Thank you to HomeStory and bbkieffer and Donald for saying nice things about my work. I bought this textured 'tin look' paintable wallpaper from Lowe's IN Athens, Ga. for just $12.99. The roll covered the entire area of my backsplash and I have plenty enough left to do a chair rail in my small guest bathroom. I'll be doing it a little different. A different colored paint and a silver patina. I put on one coat of satin polyurethane on this kitchen backsplash this morning and tomorrow once this first coat is good an dry I will put another coat of satin Polyurethane. This will protect this wallpaper for many years to any doubters out there. Probably in a few yrs if not sooner I will put a couple more coats of satin polyurethane on it.. I'm a self taught decorator and mural artist, so I didn't go into this project blind. I have a high opinion of my talent and knownledge ,even if I don't have my own show are a college degree. Here are some more pictures. I decided since the copper patina said it could be put on metal that I would make my ventahood solid copper. I have one coat on it right now,, I'll be putting at least two more, then again several coats of satin polyurethane..Well there ya' go...me with a tenth grade education, and I know quiet a lot ..I'm good at what I do and I don't take No's for answers unless I have already had doubts about my ideas myself...have a great day and Godbless you all!

In case anybody else is considering this, it's at least worth a look at the backsplash materials that are out there to create effects just like this. They're really inexpensive and look great. All the big box stores have them.
