This is a custom-made steel ladder, with maple treads secured to steel angle cross-framing. If you are going to your attic through your closet, this would probably not be your best option…kinda pricey, and meant to be seen (this is in the front entry of a house). You might want to check out Bessler attic stairs. These are not your standard cheapo folding attic stair that you find in many houses. Bessler makes a sturdy, wide, sliding/retracting stair in various sizes. You might want to check them out. Good luck.
