Hi good design people! We just bought a house and I would love some help. One of my big questions is around the family/dining/great room. I have always wanted open concept, but because there are three steps and a half wall between family and dining rooms, I'm getting a little tripped up on how to lay the room out. One of my thoughts is to open the wall between the current dining room (third picture) and the den (last picture, currently all wood panel) to create one big room where the TV and couches sofas could live...and then to move the dining room to the step down room (by the brick wall) and have that be dining and some sort of sitting/reading/library nook. Thoughts? Any other suggestions? We will be getting rid of the wood paneling and painting/refinishing floors - but any and all advice is welcome.
