Teal. I have two neighbors that recently painted their front doors in teal. Their siding is white and shutters black. The doors make the homes look so appealing now.

If you like teal I saved this pic from before as I thought I might suggest this colour ;-)

However, Manor Green,Green Gables, or one of the others could look very nice as well. Thanks Studio M! I really love lacquered navy-- but then I think I might have to paint the shutters because it wouldn't contrast enough with the black. A colonial in our neighborhood has a gorgeous look with a navy door and white shutters on a grey base.

Beautiful house! Frankly I think any number of the suggestions that have been provided would look fantastic on your home - but I am leaning towards the red tones as well. I think they tie in well with your brick work and natural vegetation already existing at your home. Benjamin Moore Raspberry Truffle. It's gorgeous and would look beautiful on the front door.

sushiiii, I like the sound of the colonial you mentioned with navy, white, and gray. The BM Raspberry Truffle Judi suggested looks nice...maybe somewhat similar to libra's suggestion of SW Poinsettia...at least on my screen. Anything called Raspberry Truffle has to be good!

this house pic has many of the elements similar to yours including red brick steps and wrought iron railing and this house has a mahogany door with brass fittings which looks very nice and adds some stylish detailing.
This has a classic look
Plus you might change the side lights to polished brass as well.
Another option to consider or ditch ;-)

Thanks Judi, chloebud, and anne! I don't think I like the mahogany door bc it's just too brown. Nice light fixtures-- I agree! Street Front Design-- I love seeing what our home will look like without the screen door! Such gratitude to everyone for all help!! The screen door will be removed at the end of the summer and I will try out a few colors. Will keep you posted...

I am leaning toward the green, husband likes the burgundy, sister likes the red and daughter likes the original black. Any tie-breakers?

I checked them out on the Benjamin Moore site, and would go with sister's choice.

If you choose another colour other than black I suggest you bring that colour in somewhere else such as in something decorative around the steps or in the landscaping.
[personally i would nix timson green. the green lawn looks so much nicer :-) ]

Thanks Anne!! Re: timson green-- I know, I have been rooting for green, but green is really tough. I am trying a greenish yellow like GPG Architectture and libradesigneye suggested when I first posted. The colors are swatches on the door. If you enlarge the photo you can see them. In the spring there is a lot of red and pink in the landscaping and many shades of green. You are right-- I can add in the Fall!

I was always rooting for the red, and still am. Is the sun ever on your door? Can you take a picture closer in? I appreciate the context, but those swatches are SO far away...

In the direct sun, the burgundy looks red

They almost look equal there, don't they? I'm still going with the brighter red (could even be a little brighter). I see why you like the green. But I think the red will have more interest through all seasons and will feel more welcoming overall.

In person, I like the burgundy a bit more, but maybe I don't have quite the right shade of red. I've always liked bright doors, but something about my home is making me shun them here. Maybe it's the asymmetry of the home, I'm not sure.

Yellow would be fun.

Personally, I love the White House/black shutter/red door look. I had it at my old house and it looked great...especially, when the house sits far from the curb. Whatever color you decide on make sure you look into getting a door where the paint has been baked on. I think that is what they call it...but definitely look into it. My house faced south and the amount of heat that would build up between the two doors was brutal. Also, ten years later and it's still as red as the day it was installed. Good Luck!

I like the red door there Anne dee! Thank you! I love the yellow from asquithoatley but I don't feel it's right here. Fabulous shade though. Slate blue was a top contender, but I liked green and red more with the brick walkway. So grateful for all suggestions and help!! Thank you!!!

Well, I went with red! Classic Burgundy by Benjamin Moore. It looks great-- but one day I may do green. Many thanks to everyone for all advice and help!!

Wow pmcrawford07!!! And I thought the neon green was bold!! I really favored some of the historic gold/ yellows but I can't even imagine doing metallic gold. Too outside the box for me. Maybe I need some of your wine! ;)

Thanks pmcrawford! Too funny-- I was afraid the red would be too bold and showy but it ended up looking cheerful. Who knows? Maybe metallic gold will be the next trend!
