Help with what to put next to TV

Re-doing an upstairs TV room. Room is approximately 14x17 Will be painted in Revere Pewter . Just purchased new sofa and love seat seen in picture. Will be keeping coffee table but need advice on what to replace old bookcase with that is in photo next to TV . Also will need advice on lamp and new end tables.

You need a longer media cabinet, so you might as well cover the wall. Replace the vertical blinds with real curtains. A single floor vase in the corner. Please don't fill it with sticks.

One long console will fill the space, hide the components and store the extras.

How about putting in an over-sized vase? It could match your color scheme and then you could stick something like fake bamboo in it. That's what I have in my living room! It might look a little something like the pictures below! Thanks!

Would I put one or two decorative items on top of the media cabinet or will it be too busy? Also, would the vase be ok empty or does it need something in it?

Nothing needed on console, or in vase.

I like these Pottery Barn tables (partly because they're on sale for $99) and the green glass lamp to add a bit of color. A couple of lighter pillows wouldn't hurt, either.

Also, center the art over the loveseat.

Find a vase that is a work of art in itself. Then don't put anything in it. If the console looks like the one I Photoshopped above, then nothing is needed on it. If it's longer and goes all the way to the wall, get a smaller vase and put it on the console instead of the floor. It's all about balance.

Replace bookcase and TV stand with one long credenza that is at least 25% wider than the TV. Center the TV and credenza on that wall. Nothing else needed there.

I'd also add a rug to the seating group, either a neutral pattern or one with a soft texture.

Everybody is on the right track here. The TV console is long and bulky, so i'd put something tall and slender beside it such as a floor lamp, vase, art, or the like.

Good to know, Grover! I am going to creep on here and "follow" you! My husband and I will be building a house and I think I will be posting a lot on here! We are finishing up the plans and hope to get started in a couple of months. I really like your design style!
