Agree you need a change of rugs. With the beachy blue sofa and almost tropical floral chair, how about a wool sisal-look rug to kick start a new island vibe?

Decoenthusiaste - thanks for your comments. Can you show me an example of what colour of rug you were thinking. I looked up wool sisal-like rugs on Houzz and there are many to choose from. Again, I'm looking to add more colour instead of beige/taupe which is what I currently have and kind of boring.

Some rug ideas:

I didn't have a particular color in mind, just the island look that natural sisal gives. You can get one bordered with a color or you can go for a pattern in the rug's weave, but generally the wool ones are softer on the feet than actual sisal ones.

What I see is that you're hiding a great looking floor. If you were to slide the couch down to the end of the wall, could you relocate the desk to the other side of the room so that the window is at your back? Expose the floor where the desk is now. Or...relocate the desk to another room altogether, free up that floor space, and leave the console table and art. As for a rug, a subtle flat-weave with a pattern that is less bold than the upholstery on the chair.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The floor is nice but it scratches easily, plus rugs are nice for our long Canadian winters lol. Once I have decided on a rug I will post pics.
