In the warm earthtones you have, a shingle siding is going to look even more like the real wood thing. . Would also suggest another upgrade to shutters wide enough to actually cover windows when closed (and take them off the lower level - except beef up the trim around the window) . . . shingle style coming on . .

In this vein, consider taking your shutters darker . . . maybe sort of nautical .. navy is great with tan and white.
