Kitchen -- how could we best spend $10,000?

Prefer a modern look -- replace cabinet doors? Paint them? Would like to stay with white appliances.

Replace cabinet door/drawer fronts and countertops with backsplash. You can do a nice white paint on a slab/flat door style and for added feeling to the height of the room you can even do white on the wall cabinets and a darker base cabinet. Ask for "full overlay" so that you don't see large gaps between the doors/drawers from left to right. Bring your back splash up to the bottom of the wall cabinets. with a mosaic blend tile. Find a less busy countertop that mimics marble or is a solid color that will add some contrast and interest from the cabinets.

i would say replace the doorfronts and drawerfronts.
a more modern style panel will make the whole room feel updated.

It seems the details are making the space seem a little more traditional. The cup/bin pulls are very traditional as is the valance and glass shelves. Would you consider painting the cabinets a matte color that picks up on the floor tile, using an opaque glass in the display cabinets, and large stainless pulls? The white appliances would be fine to stay if you worked in a charcoal color wave. The tile and countertops could then be swapped out for something more contemporary. The floor, here, is the real scene stealer!

Absolutely agree with both previous posters - you have a modern space but traditional drawer fronts and decor. Take down the dishes off the wall/counters, get flat panel drawer fronts and more modern hardware. I would also cut down the curved front on the upper cab above dishwasher so it's square. Then put up a backsplash to the bottom of the lower cabinets.

Paint white, replace fancy valance over d/w with straight piece. replace knobs with longer bar pulls.

I would paint cabinets, new hardware. How are appliances? Countertops can be very expensive.
