Here is one idea with natural wood siding to contrast with the gray color of the house.

This is a really cute house that could be taken up a notch with simple changes.

The brick columns are probably original, so I would keep them but paint them a darker color so they don't stand out so much. Perhaps a lighter shade of grey. I would put large house numbers vertically on the column closest to the path.

Then, what your house needs is better landscaping. If you are puzzled by this, get a landscape architect to lay out a plan for you to execute--this shouldn't cost much. Otherwise, go to the library and find some garden books for your area and copy one of the houses that you like.

Additionally, widen your front walk by laying bricks on each side of the cement.

Do you think it would be detrimental to cover the painted brick columns? I'm just not a fan of painted brick...
