The important thing is to keep the colors balanced. If you keep your walls untouched, I'd suggest a dark color for the cabinets such as black or chocolate. For the backsplash, you can use stainless steel that will match your appliances or one of the many options of tiles available at local stores. If you go for black cabinets, I'd recommend using stainless steel or glossy or pearlized tiles in a light color. If you choose chocolate cabinets then I'd go with a backsplash of 1"x1" tiles of different shades of brown.

It may look different in person, but despite the wood cabinets, this is still a really nice kitchen. It looks great in the photo.

It,'s really a very nice kitchen. I would change the pulls of the cabinets to brushed stainless steel if the cabinets are going to be colored in grey.. It's kind of too much same color wood.. I also would polish the floor and trim with mahagony or black
Another option would be paint the cabinets beige and use black colored pulls.
Island can use some pendants too..

I have to agree - it does look really nice in the photos. It may be worth trying the above suggestions first. Is there a recessed light above the island? Either a pair of small pendants or a cluster of three is you only have one fixture outlet.

Thank you all. I think the goal at some point is to refinish the floors and the trim a different color. Floors to refinished to a darker color. Trim a whIte? I do love kitchen. It just feels like the cabinets are dated. I was thinking painting would be a nice lift and not cost as much as a complete rip out. Also, there is no backsplash currently.

I definitely think that painting the trim will lighten it up! :) after that's painted, I think it should look and feel brighter and less dated. It's an amazing kitchen, though! I love the layout especially!

Hi, it's a nice kitchen! A few upgrades would change the look and feel of your space. I agree, start with refinishing the floors to a darker shade. Change the pulls and put a pendant light above the island.

A backsplash that compliments your backsplash tiles would look great! Take a look at the matted Square Stainless Aspect tiles, they may do the trick!
