Raised panel/ flat panel

We are building a new home and have been offfered raised or flat panel maple or birch cupboards. We have opted for maple with a gray stain but are unable to decide on raised or flat panel. Is the flat panel a more modern look? Cannot tell as we only see door samples not the whole kitchen. Would raised panel me more timeless? At this point there is no price difference.

Flat panels tend to feel more 'European' and contemporary as well.

I'm thinking so too but the builder made an error in quoting and raised panel are 40% more but at this point he's willing to cover the difference....it's a lot of cupboard and door fronts so we need to be careful and not rush this decision. The flat panel looks a bit more like a shaker door with the edges raised and the centre panel flat. Your thoughts?

We are moving to a more contemporary look- keeping things simple and uncluttered ( hopefully)

Go with the recessed (flat) panel for a clean, less fussy look.

Go with what you like best. However, I can't believe that the raised panel is 40% more expensive. I like raised panel but that's personal preference.

I choose raised panel over shaker style, either is fine. Raised is priced higher

Raised is elegant, timeless and will look traditional or contemporary based on your other elements. Recessed doors can sound "hollow". I feel recessed and shaker work very nicely with either a modern kitchen or rustic vibe.

So glad we we t with raised pa el. I have seen some neighbour's flat panel cupboards and feel the raised looks classic. ..finally made a decision I don't tegret!
