    It was a flat ceiling before and we completely rebuilt the structure of the roof to create the vault. It required a perimeter beam and then a large ridge beam and rafters framed off the perimeter on to the ridge beam.

    Not sure if you will get this, but when you say you rebuilt the structure the roof, did you mean the roof on the entire house?
