I need help with balancing colors.

I'm moving from a small studio into even a smaller one, about 300 sq. ft. and I'm trying to keep things consistent with the same color through out. I have brown barstools, white chair and ottoman brown floor mirror, white and brown bedding...I'm just not sure if I should be using the colors evenly. How does it matter how colors are used? Should each area having a slightly different color or tone? Should I have more white than brown? Just not sure. I need storage in the LR area but not sure if I should go with white or brown, does it matter? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! (I had a previous post where someone said to use the same whie 'tone' when using that color. That was really helpful too) I like the modern look if that helps.

With a space that small, I think you would want to go with a pretty cohesive look overall. Any chance you have photos of the new space that might help get an idea of what might work best?

Here's a great example of using white and brown in a room...notice the dark brown wood pieces, the milk chocolate walls and white bedding and accessories. Since your square footage is minimal you may want to use lighter shades with plenty of white thrown in to visually expand your space.

Emily, that's the bad thing I only have the floor plan :/ I wish I had picks. I can just tell you it's small ;)
Michiganmmermom, Thanks that was nice. I think I will use more white than brown, good idea.What would be a good accent color? I have sheer blueish-grey on my windows and sometimes that same color on my bed.
