Is the shiplap nailed directly to the studs or did you drywall behind it?

Typically it is nailed directly to the studs.

If the shiplap is nailed into the studs then do you caulk between planks or is it just air?

Most of the interior walls will have sound insulation, all exterior walls have insulation and all plates and stud-packs are caulked. The painter will caulk ship lap joints when they paint.

Love this! What stain color is the ceiling?

That ceiling is reclaimed oak and is the natural color of the wood...so no stain used. The supplier runs it through a planer and due to the varying thickness and wear on the wood you end up with a variety of color and surface texture.

To me, it is somewhere between rustic and victorian house. I don't know if you agree, but that it is just me. - Green Water Technologies

Forget what it's made of, just enjoy how perfectly it flows together! Excellent planning looks very calming. The faint blue rug accents it flawlessly. It's a tall area and can be overwhelming but your use of wide ship-lap on the walls and dark natural ceiling make it much more cozy than if it were white drywall all around. I imagine the price was quite hefty but the result is certainly worth it.
