Impressive how your re-arrangement transformed this to a designer room. I've been looking for a console & what they have looks like the perfect piece for our dining room (it's not very large and needs a reflective piece behind the table to give an illusion of larger space). Can you tell me where it was sourced? Thank you!

@quercus2 - this grey palette appealed to these clients. When we are called in to design a room, our job is respect the personal tastes of the client. With all due respect, whether or not you personally care for grey is irrelevant on this forum. What is relevant is whether the space works as a whole. We believe it does. The designer and clients are obviously proud enough of the results to post them on this "before and after forum" to share with others.

@rcmleach thank you for your comments and question. The clients had already purchased this beautiful mirrored buffet so I can't tell you where it is from. However I do know that Hooker Furniture carries similar items. Or check on Wayfair.com and do a search for mirrored buffets. Hope this helps. Good luck from Montreal!

Well, Rachel Laver, I disagree. I think making negative comments is rather rude, and it doesn't speak well of the person who feels the need to go out of his/her way to make a negative comment. I didn't see anything constructive about quercus2's comment. This was not posted in the "Design Dilemma," where people are seeking constructive input from others. It was unnecessary in my opinion.

Every comment is an opinion so if no one put an opinion there would be no comments lol. Saying this is lovely is a relevant as saying there is too much gray which makes it boring. One likes the look, one doesn't. Normal in decorating.

Well, Rachel, I would hope that if I walked into a room and you hated my dress that you would choose to keep your negative comment to yourself. We can agree to disagree on this subject matter. Well, alex511 if you posted a photo of a dress on a site that was meant to critique fashion, I think that you are opening yourself up to positive and negative critique. The person is critiquing the design not the homeowner. I doubt they would walk into someone's home and make a similar comment.

Perhaps the discussion on this post raises the question about what Houzz is really meant to be. Professionals use it as a means of sharing our experience and expertise with homeowners who might not be in a position to afford an interior designer or are looking for new ideas/inspiration. We also use Houzz to showcase our work to potential local clients. As professionals, we also respond to questions on a regular basis and give advice when requested. I have always thought that Houzz is for homeowners and design/decor enthusiasts to congregate online and share their successes and ask for advice from both Houzzers and pros. If one person doesn't care for a certain room or style, I can't see how that is relevant or of any interest to other Houzzers. I can see how it is relevant in their own idea books to help them identify what it is they like and don't like and why. Keep in mind there's a difference between posting your personal dislikes about someone else's space and offering constructive or interesting critique that leads to dialogue from which everyone can benefit. Let's try to keep these forums a positive, respectful and useful place to share ideas and our projects.

Beautifully put RMI! I keep going back to the space you transformed just by a re-arrangement of a few pieces. It just occurred to me that you also added a mirror & artwork. Would you mind sharing where you sourced the mirror (above the console)?

@rmlathb - it's a Renwil mirror MT-1019 in silver leaf but for some reason it's no longer on their website. If you are in the US, you might be able to purchase it through Sears.com or other online sites. Hope this helps. Good luck from Montreal!
