Will this painting go with my dining room?

Need help on deciding where to hang this painting in my dining room. How should I update the frame too? It's a painting given to me by my father in law. We just bought our house and it's so hard to decorate . I don't have buffet table yet but would be needing your advice on what would go with my dining set. :)

    The frame seems fine, I would update the mat board. The green mat makes it seem outdated. An ivory (off-white) or white matte would be more up to date with current framing trends, and it should remain timeless. I believe you will also find it matches the room much better overall. You can get it re-matted at a frame or craft store, and it will be less expensive than getting a new frame.
