Hi guys!

As some of you may already know, my husband and I are getting a new home built which will be ready in September. I am going through our home room by room trying to plan as much as possible.

I am now thinking of our master bedroom. Our previous house had a darker bedroom, I wanted it to feel warm and cozy. Fast forward to now and I am wanting our new master to be airy and sophisticated. We initially spent quite a lot of money on furnishings for our bedroom so we aren't ready to scrap it all yet so my question to you is how can we work with what we have and get that airy feel?

Attached is a picture of the bed we have. I think there's a filter on the picture so the headboard is more of a light beige. You can see a bit of the night tables in the corner - they're dark brown, I'd say a shade or two lighter than an espresso stain. Along with the night tables I have a dresser that matches so that means I have a lot of dark furniture in the room.

Is it too much dark to be able to achieve the airy look? I am open to adding furniture (bench, chair, etc) and changing the bedding. I also have to get window treatments and open to paint suggestions.
