You can install the curtain rod above the framing of the windows. Get the curtains shortened for the window above the radiator.

Or you can use one of those wood and paper room dividers for the window behind your bed. the light will glow through the paper and will give your room a soft glow. As for the radiator window use a short sheer curtain.

Add wood blinds inside mounted and put a mock roman shade up top.

Thought you might like to see your idea for the curtains pic #1 (could drape both, but have a pull back on window with radiator). You could go with just white or a pattern #2 pic (and then bring that color into extra pillows on your bed). See ideas for art in pic #3, as pictures will make a big difference as well. Add a quilt or throw on the truck. An antique chandelier would top it off.

What I like to do is use spring-tension rods just inside the top of the window, holding lace curtains. They don't have to be heavy foo- foo lace, there are a lot of other designs available that are more simple, if that is your preference. I just happen to not be a big fan of sheers, but I want to let light in while allowing for some measure of privacy. I have dragged my lace curtains around to the last three places I've lived. I've left them "as is" for the bedrooms ( truthfully, I put a sheer behind them for additional privacy), but for living rooms and dining rooms, I have hung curtains high, almost to the ceiling. It's a look I like, maybe too formal for some, but again, I think that depends upon the pattern of the lace. (It's too dark at the moment, but I'll try to post a pic when the sun comes up tomorrow.)
