Have you considered hanging that screen up high? Could be stunning! Might fill in with a fiddle leaf fig on the floor in a huge pot to compliment the screen.

Great idea to put screen up there. It would be best to decide on your window coverings before committing to putting something over the cabinet.

Get that screen up there and paint the wall a fantastic accent color! If we could hang the 200LB antique stained glass window/mirror on the studio ceiling, you can find someone to get that screen up there. Obviously I am totally comfortable with the strong bolts we chose, or I wouldn't be able to enjoy my yoga practice on the floor each morning or feel secure welcoming students and clients into the space as it is right at the entry! Enjoy your space!

There are other objects besides foliage which can be placed above your china cabinet. When my clients are fortunate enough to have a high ceiling, I often place tall vases, tapestry, plates, plaques, candlesticks or a very large picture above a tall furniture piece. You want to take advantage of the tall space above your china cabinet and have people look up when they enter the room so that your room seems more expansive.

How about some wrought iron decorative art?

2 options - stack heavy glass objects tall and short on top of that china cabinet in colors of clear and smoke, blues or grey in shapes to compliment the room. Second option, antique plate collection attached to the wall in assorted designs and shapes, in black, bronze and white with metallic pewter, gold edges on some.

My first thought was your screen, but if too heavy, a large oriental hanging. You could also choose a really wonderful large motif wallpaper and nothing else would be needed.

I would suggest you put something like chair rail molding around the room and attach it just above the top of the china cabinet OR even with the top of the large, lower window. Then, above this molding, paint the wall a color that contrasts and yet harmonizes with your color scheme. It does not have to be a bright color, just something soothing that breaks up the vertical wall space. As an alternative, If you like bead board or wainscoting, you might add this in white to the lower part of the wall so that the top of the bead board is a few inches above the top of the china cabinet. You might also add a plate rail at this level, provided it is not too high for you.
