Floating bed

The bed appears to float, but I presume there is a base hidden underneath? Can you elaborate some more on bed construction. We would love to suspend our bed out of brick wall but are unsure if this is too difficult. Thank you.

What dimensions would you suggest using for a king sized bed for the frame & the top to ensure it will hold the mattress? I absolutely love this! :)

We used 32mm MDF and created a box for the base 1595mm x 1160mm - then the top was 1995mm x 1760mm. The top and base need to be aligned at the head end. TIP :: we also created a small cut out at the head of the bed to bring any cables through for electric blankets. You can create it any size you want you just want to be sure that the top for the mattress does not stick out past the mattress as you will bump your legs on the corners as you walk by!

Would the mattress not ''slide'' around on top? Or is it fixed in another way? Love the design by the way! :)

No the mattress doesn't slide. In fact it has just enough slide to make it easy to make the bed but it doesn't slide by itself. The mattress is quite a dense weight that is evenly distributed so it weighs itself down and stays in place.
