Countertop Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Updating kitchen countertops and would like to know some more options. I have hardwood floors and white cabinets. We had tile countertops and have taken those out. I would like something like travertine or crema marfil marble but know that those aren't good choices for kitchen countertops. I have been looking at granite and I really haven't seen any that I think will look okay for me. I don't want statement pieces I just want something that is durable and looks nice. I don't care for the look of engineered quartz either. What else is there?

I agree with VT Industries about considering laminate. You can get a faux granite for around $30 sq ft plus installation, and you can have an acrylic under mount sink attached to them that comes with a 50 year guarantee. We went with this option last winter when we redid our countertop, and are very happy with how it came out. The sink is a single bowl 30" sink that is 9" deep and is big enough to bath a small child or dog--but I wouldn't recommend it, just that it's THAT big. Obviously with laminate and acrylic you can't put hot pans right off the stove on them, but that's just common sense.

When you have some time, check out Formica.com, Wilsonart.com and Karran.com. We went with faux maple countertops as we're shooting for a rustic look.

Have you looked at Butterfly Beige or Giallo Ornamental granite? If you rule out granite and quartz, then you are looking at recycled glass (read expensive!!) or concrete or the old solid surface.

Have you looked at the laminate options available. You can get the look of real stone, but at a fraction of the price, which allows for the additional dollars to be spent elsewhere in the kitchen. Thanks, I have not seen butterfly beige but I am learning quickly that if it isn't on my fabricator's lot I am going to pay a lot more :0

Have you looked at soapstone? It's beautiful with white cabinets.
