Looks like the perfect place for a desk -- any style will work -- you choice! A drop down antique, a modern metal and glass, a vintage hand me down. Place it on a square or round area rug, add a glass table lamp and a series of small mirrors/framed pieces of artwork that ties it all together. If you can find a small wood frame chair, that would look great too!

I would probably put a bench in that spot, or 2 side chairs and a small table;)
