Custom Pantry Makeover

We have an L-shaped pantry, and we always hated the wiring shelves. Small stuff seemed to wiggle around and food particles just sifted through the gaps. I previously did a master closet, removing all wire shelves in favor of wooden built-ins, using IKEA solutions, and I liked the idea of removing more builder grade wire shelves. For this project, I wanted to try my hand at a fully custom set up, building everything from scratch.

I built can/spice storage on the left wall, deep floor to ceiling shelving on the back and a custom chalkboard on the right wall. I painted them all the same color as the baseboards/door to make it appear like it always belonged. I also built the wood crates, stained them dark for some contrast and added rope handles for an antique look/feel. They've wide and deep for overflow storage that's out of sight. We are enjoying it so far!

I didn't realize I hadn't taken a before picture, but it was similar to the one I'm attaching.

Lovely and neat. If you can hack an Ikea rack, you can add pull out shelves to make access to the goods behind easier (or even add open boxes or lazy susans)
