I would really like some help with wall colour and fireplace ? I am very conservation please nothing to crazy .thanks.

Hi Barb, the first thing I would do is pick some neutral tile for FP. Something like in the photo with varying neutral shades would be best. Then paint FP to match you window trim and crown moulding. You can choose a wall colour from one of the neutrals in the tile and then your whole room would be harmonious.

Even though it's not part of your question, I think a traditional style rug in light pastels and neutrals would look lovely with the light plum furniture.

The furniture is actually brown. I know the picture isn't that good.i have had a little trouble navigating the web site. Thanks for your help. I was wondering if I paint the walls and fireplace should I paint the base boards white like the fireplace?

Hi barb, colours on screen can be off but I can see now that your furniture is probably more of a taupe colour. It is probably the yellowy walls contrasting with the pinky undertones in the furniture. As far as painting baseboards it depends. Is window trim white or wood? What is it throughout the house? You may want to keep it consistent throughout.

There are white California shutters up.this is actually my cousin's,house. They are looking at painting it and a bedroom which I would also like your help on. They live 4 months a yr.down south and are here 8 month. I think she is looking at painting it for the last time as the next move will b a condo for them.She was hoping to make it updated should the time come that she wants to sell.

You have some beautiful warm colors going on with the floor and mantle. What about using a complimentary color like blue or green?
