are halogen bulbs the only option?
i find the halogen lights tend to get very hot.
is there a conversion kit of some sort to change it to LED or incandescent base?

Hello ctrller, I checked, there is no conversion kit as you had hoped.

This fixture is designed for 50 Watt 120 Volt GU10 MR16 Halogen Lock Socket. They do not have a conversion kit. They have a shield so the light shade shouldn’t get too hot. The light is pointed directly out.
It is a good looking bath light and it's very popular
and I can not say that I have ever heard anyone complain but you know your situation and your needs.

I so liked this light fixture but Im disapointed that I cant use it. New construction code dictates NO halogeon light fixtures. I could get a fixture for inspection then change out after occupancy permit but what a pain. :"(
