Hello! I recently bought a really cute house that I'm in the process of fixing up. I'm tackling my master bedroom first and I'm having a dilemma with it's knotty pine paneling on the walls. The paneling goes from the floor and covers about 2/3 of the wall. I'm not a huge fan of wood paneling, but my parents think I should leave it how it is because because it's "so beautiful" and may be good for resale value. I'm afraid to paint or white wash the wood now (because I don't want to ruin it) and I feel like the only option is to decorate around it.

I'm going for a beach cottage/shabby chic/modern look look for my entire home and I'm thinking about painting the rest of the walls in my bedroom a nice white, buying lots of white furniture and putting up flowing white curtains. Maybe all of these things will offset the dark wood paneling. But I don't know. Please help!!
