LED strips have a long life and they burn cool like fluorescent s which is a good advantage for the kitchen. Keep in mind they'r most expensive out of most of light that out there and some models models need external transformer which installed inside the cabinet so look for models that don't need them.

I would go with LEDS because halogen gets very hot and the led strips come in warm and cool so in your space I would probably do warm, they last forever and cost hardly anything to run.
