Chrome never goes out of style. Other finishes become dominant and trendy on and off.

It most certainly is. You'll find a lot of chrome finish fixtures in kitchens and bathrooms in most midcentury homes and wood compliments it well in most occassions. Brushed nickel usually brings a more retro feel that is perfect for british colonial or farmhouse style-homes but that doesn't mean midcentury homes having them would be faux pas. It would help if we saw what your home looked like.

As for double sinks vs. single ones, the choice largely depends on how often and how much yu put in your sink. Bigger families tend to need double sinks and of course, the size of your kitchen matters as well.
