Not to mention our mobile society and how often people move. This is our new credenza in the living room (walls to be painted differently).

Recently, we renovated one of our offices downtown by installing a huge workspace that spans practically the entire length of the room. Let the productivity continue! :)

Our newest piece of furniture is about a year and a half old. It's a rocking chair my brother-in-law bought for my husband - apparently it looks very similar to the one their grandmother had when they were little. I wasn't that thrilled about it initially, but now I like it - unexpectedly it doesn't look too bad in our bedroom.

A "new" old solid cherry Statton dining table that is large enough to seat all the adults in my family comfortably. The kids still have to sit at the kids' table, but that's where the fun happens, right?

I replaced 2 Thomasville Club chairs in my keeping room (9 years of use) with animal print Ethan Allen chairs. They definitely make a statement and are much more big and comfy than the Thomasville chairs. They make me so happy!

I rarely purchase brand new furniture. So if you mean the last brand new piece of furniture, I would say it was our mattresses. If you mean new-to-you, it is a large dining room table and 6 chairs that my sister had in storage and just gave to us. We are in the middle of re-covering the chair bottoms now.

Four very comfy club chairs that swivel, rock and glide, for a new
loft overlooking the kitchen…to be the site of many happy, relaxing hours with or without friends, and with or without adult beverages…under a 48" diameter inverted bowl light fixture hung at the highest point in a two story vaulted ceiling.

Antique English walnut pub table that I bought in 2007. It's at least 80 years old. It's great to use as a buffet table for parties because it extends or when not extended it can be used for meals or board games. However it requires chairs that sit slightly lower.

I sold my beloved wicker bedroom furniture and dining set before a major interstate move ( I knew both wouldn't survive the 2 month storage & 1,000+ mile trek). So, I've made due with a second hand wood dining table given to me by a neighbor and did a quick improvise with a chest that actually is a plastic garage storage unit (color works well with my leather recliner in the room).

I reclaimed the wood frame from an old light box taken down in my bath demolition to use as the frame for an upholstered headboard I plan to make later this year. It is the perfect size! For quite a while, I've really wanted an upholstered headboard, so I'm excited I'll be able to do it to my personal specifications. I'm not sure what I'll do about the dresser, I might paint what I have, or invest in a "real" one. Either way, what I have now with the plastic 4 large drawer unit works well and looks like a decent piece.

'80s counter stools off of eBay. Will be having them reupholstered soon.

Hubs and I made a commitment that other than mattresses, we will not buy any brand new furniture, but, rather, will buy vintage pieces and restore them if necessary. We haven't purchased any new furniture in about five years. There is so much out there! It's less like buying furniture (and other decor items) and more like adopting them.

Well, it's not a piece of furniture, but we finally got around to framing a painting by a friend of ours. (She's in her late 80's now.) I love the colors. It cost almost as much as a piece of furniture to have it framed! Sheesh!

I've been searching for just the right cabinet to hold my liquor bottle and free up pantry space. I found this adorable antiqued red cabinet on the One Kings Lane website and had to have it! My living/dining room has a whole new look now.

Picked these 6 chairs up at a flea market yesterday! The dining room is grey and the table is dark. I'm thinking a soft yellow paint on the chairs and a cool fabric seat. Thoughts?

We inherited this chair from my husband's grandmother. It's comfortable and will be reupholstered when I'm finished refinishing the wood and floors in my almost 100 year old house.
Oh, I forgot I also purchased this gossip chair. It needs to be reupholstered also.
