We have 1600 sqft. traditional concrete around our new in-ground pool. I call it sidewalk concrete. It's just normal concrete. We didn't do anything fancy. When the subcontractors poured the concrete the pads they used left two large "stripes" (area where the concrete is significantly lighter than the rest of the deck) about 10 feet in length each on two obvious grids around the pool. They are the in the worst spot because you see them from our sunroom and our living room when you look down at the pool deck from the house. Our pool contractor is willing to fix. He gave us two options: 1. replace the two square grids completely 2. Stain the concrete. He suggests stain the concrete because he says the new pour will be a variation in color based on normal variance. I'm leaning toward the stain but have two questions: Does the stain make the concrete more slippery when wet? Will the stain cover the color difference we have now or will we still have lighter streaks - just in a different hue? Thanks for any help!
