42" of wall cabinets is light. Can you add some open shelves on either side of range hood for more storage?

You are forcing a peninsula in a galley kitchen.

@Dytecture - We removed the wall into the dining room, and the peninsula opens into that room. Most of the comparable homes in the area have a similar breakfast bar. I think its needed to get top dollar.

HI -- This is what I would do . Put all the tall units on the fridge wall , such as fridge with full depth upper cabinet . You could have the fridge with a pantry on each side or the fridge with a big pantry beside . Now starting on your plan at the upper left corner - 42 inch base w/ 36 or 39 inch upper . The 42 inch base section could be two units with one half being 21 inch base with one door /one drawer and the other a 21 inch bank of drawers . Now the 36 inch sink base . Now the dishwasher . Now a 21 inch base w/ upper ,now the stove w/chimney range hood , now a 21 inch base with upper . These two 21 inch base units can be pot drawers . The microwave can go on and in the pantry or can be in the upper cabinet in the upper left corner on the plan . This , you will notice does" not" have the peninsula and lazy Susan corner ,which gives you a better plan and storage . And this will also make the kitchen feel and look bigger .. more open . Because of the size of the kitchen , you cannot afford the space taken up by a peninsula /breakfast bar . This will be a better resale value . If you have table and chair seating close by , then you don't need the peninsula and breakfast bar. And the peninsula just cuts into the traffic plan of the kitchen. This will now make the stove area more symmetrical for a better look. The fridge will also look more built- in with the side gables and a full depth cabinet over .
