Yes, I agree with Christine. If you need the cabinet for storage, is it possible to raise it, sand it, and paint it white..along with the vanity drawers, front? The right paint color in here would go a long way. Consider a new towel bar and another location for it, a new toilet paper holder and mount it closer to the toilet and out of sight. I see that your door hardware is of a bright brass color, but you could still pull off another finish for the fixtures--something bright and fresh like polished nickel would be nice. This all might be more than you bargained for, but I think would make a huge improvement. Check out home depot for affordable fixtures.

Get rid to the wallpaper...Put a nice print on the wall ..It doesn't have to be expensive...Match towels to color in print...Paint the wood white

Yes, I agree with what others have said about the wallpaper, storage cabinet and oak accents. It's time for this powder room to get a facelift! The great thing about guest baths is that because they're so small, they're a perfect place to experiment a little Some of these, although perhaps not your style, might give you some ideas.

Hi Steve147, if you don't want to spend the time and labor on removing the wall paper, consider installing waincoting / beadboard on the lower half of the wall to improve the look of the guest bath.

I agree that the wallpaper has gotta go... but I think a fresh and funky color of paint would do the trick! Too much pattern in a small space doesn't always work!

Yes I would remove the wallpaper as well, it is dating the room. I would also remove the pony wall. These type of walls are usually put up for privacy, but in a powder/guest bathroom it is unlikely that this would be an isuue. There are thousands of beautiful wallpapers that will give you more color for an updated feel, paint also is an option. Good luck with your project. Charmean Neithart

The wallpaper must go--get your Dif (wallpaper remover), scraper and elbow grease. Then add a fresh coat of paint.

All great comments; thanks Dytecture for the unique photo enhancement. I plan to remove the wall paper and implement either a wainscote or navahoe white lower wall with shadow boxes. I would like to keep cabinety the same color; and I must keep half wall as that is where the cabinety drawer is connected. I need to pick a not so busy wallpaper as Unique Online Furniture mentioned.

Baby steps: A chair rail may help for starters. Then go from there
