A couple of things to remember as you decide on a paint color. First, what is the overall feel you want to achieve? Dark colors can connote sophistication, warmth and intimacy. Second, light. As in this image, the room works very well because of the strong, cool light coming in from the bank of windows (and probably photographer's lighting too). Insufficient natural light can make a room painted in dark colors feel cold and foreboding. Third, balance is key when painting walls in a dark color.
