It depends on what shade of red you're talking about. If it is a historical color, then no. If it is primary color red, then yes!

No, it's not a bad idea if it keeps the peace, and prevents marriage problems. The one thing my husband and I came to an agreement on regarding our renovation is that we both have to like something like a color before we go with it. I've had to change several colors, and even repaint after my husband admitted he really didn't like it. He's more important than a paint color.

there is a great commercial on tv right now showing a young woman plumping pillows in her newly painted [gorgeous] red bedroom with good lighting and deep plum accents. the husband closes the door on the dog peering in.
next scene, the husband [i hope:)] opens the door and 2 kids and a pregnant wife precede him out the door.
i painted my kitchen benj moore aura 'caliente' [warm dark red]--awesome!! 5 years ago!! anyone new still comments favourably. even one of my contractors used it in his own kitchen...

Red even dark red is Ok , but
1. only if you have enough natural light to support this color, or it could come across as a dark hole
2. Red in a pure hue will not be conductive to a relaxing feel since it ramps up metabolism
and in some cases elevates blood pressure
3/ Since warm color advance it may make the room smaller , so if the rm is of a larger scale - no problem even can be beneficial.
ALL colors are great , they just need to fit the architectural limitations of the
room.

Here is a pic of the room! We are remodeling and taking out that little closet.
