What is under those stairs? Is there a closet in another room that goes under the stairs? It might be just 4 feet of closed off dead space and stair framing, like mine was. I bought a simple old, all wood, bureau. I painted it white and removed the top, so you could see into the top drawers. I then pushed in up against the wall, traced around it on the wall. I then cut a hole in the drywall and crawled in. I reinforced the framing under the stairs and cut out the framing that would impede me from pushing the bureau into the hole. I pushed the bureau about 60 percent of the way in and secured it. I trimmed around the bureau with 1"x2"s painted white and topped the part that stuck out with a beautiful slab of mahogany and put on some nice hardware. I can now pull out full size drawers from a bureau that takes up only about 10" of floor space. We store hats, gloves leashes etc.
