Did you end up going with the Porcelain? Im looking into this now, and information/reviews is hard to find!

Not as yet. It seems to be more prevalent in commercial work. The other glitch is that the cutting tools and planes need to be very large which most residential carpenters don't have. I would ask for installer referrals from your local distributor. Good luck.

Porcelain slab is a newer material on the market. It wears like porcelain tile - very well. It's low maintenance, won't etch or stain like marble as it's non porous, and extremely durable. It does have its particularities so make sure you work with an experienced fabricator.

Look at Sinterclad it is a very nice porcelain material. You need to ask the supplier who is one of thier recomended trained installers. The one thing I can tell you from experiance with all these sintered porcelain materials when fabricating there are specific diamond blades to use. As for the installation it needs to be set over a cement board and put down with a ultra flex thinset mortar covering both the substrate and the counter itself. This will prevent cracks from appearing on your counter. It can't be set like granite or quartz with silicone.
