8 and 6 ft wide

The sheers would be over either 4 or 3ft depending on the size of the window. I just wasn't sure if that gap as well as seeing that lower rod was right

You don't need to pay for a double rod, but the sheers should hang higher, as high as the rod in front with the curtains.

you can use a scarf to hide it

We have scarf treatment for the past 15 years and are trying for a more simple and contemporary look. I didn't want to go back to the scarf look

I personally don't like that look , I was looking at the store and saw the same thing ,I would get a double rod instead this way everything is at the same level

The type of rod the sheers are on are not intended to be opened and closed routinely but just to hang there. If you want to be able to easily draw open the sheers, there is a Kirsch double rod available that you hang the sheers on the back and the heavier drapery on the front. Both sheers and drapery would need to be pinch-pleated. Each would be drawn open separately. The drapery in the picture appears to be pinch-pleated but the sheers are only shirred on a rod.

If you like the look of the decorative rods and rings, it is just a fact of life that if you want sheers too, that they will need to be on a separate rod and yes, the rod will show when the drapery is drawn open. I am not a big fan of drapery on rings because the oil from your hands opening and closing them routinely causes the fabric to soil and darken.
