New House

Hello-
We just purchased a clapboard colonial in a beach town. The fireplace needs updating. It is wood burning. The color of the brick does not work with my color palate. I am thinking tans with dark blue accent colors. I inherited a collection of oil, landscape paintings so I like to keep the walls a neutral color and use blues and greens for accent since these complement the paintings.

This is NOT my furniture. This is the previous owner's furniture. I will probably buy all new things for this space.
I want to paint the brick a complementing color with the walls but could use a little guidance from someone who has painted a fireplace before.
Thank you! Thank you!
