I'm glad you're thinking about lamp size. Due to the fact that your side tables are shorter than the arms of the furniture, I think you'll need to go to 32-34". I like this Robert Abbey triple gourd lamp (33" height). It comes in a bunch of colors. It's a bit more expensive than $200/lamp, but lots of websites sell it and you might be able to locate a sale.

Here's a better price. This Anya lamp from lampsplus is $120 and comes in tons of colors (32.25" tall). This color is called "Uncertain Gray".

Or, this "Ash Raindrop Gray Lamp" on Lampsplus (32" tall), $139.

Looking at the idea photo the side tables are tall and so are the lamps ,if that is the look that you like then the Vetro Glass lamp 36" is perfect, but we can look for more :)

I like that one! Ya know, maybe it would be a good thing for no blue on the lamp since you have it in the art and pillows right there, too.

Hoping Ann or someone will weigh in on the height. You could even hold a yard stick up on the side table and see what you think of it, too, and see where the shade would maybe hit for the light while sitting there.

Kathy, what is the height of the side tables? If more than 24", I think you might be able to get away with a 30" lamp. If shorter than 24", I think you'll need 32-34. It's a very nice room so far. I'd hate to see you disappointed with lamps that look out of scale. Lamps can always be elevated on a book or two, but no need to go there if you're choosing new lamps. Please take a good at deco's chart above. The height of the table and lamp really need to approach 58" or it will look wrong.

I like that glass lamp.
My living room side table is also 24" and my table lamp is 32.5" tall. I think that has worked out very well. So, I think if you choose a lamp between 32 and 34, you'll be very happy with the look. At 32, you're just 2 inches short of deco's diagram, but I think it will look like the proper scale. I can't tell you how many lamps I've taken to Goodwill because they were just too darn small and after spending the money on them and living with them for a few years, I just had to bite the bullet and realize I made a bad decision and it looked odd.
I like lampsplus.com because you can search by height ranges.

I would go with colored lamps because the walls and furniture are light. Love this space, and can't wait to see what you choose! :)

This one is $217 on lampsplus, but sometimes you can find coupon codes or better deals. I don't absolutely love it but it's interesting. Blue mercury glass and 32".

Another at $217. Mercury glass again and 33" tall.

I don't know if I need more bulk at the bottom for such a large lamp, I will look again at lamps plus. I was going to stop in at the store yesterday but it closed down

Kathy, for the price, I do think the Anya lamp I posted above is a good contender. It's non-offensive, comes in about 100 colors (some with multiple shade choices), and is a good size. Unless you really don't like it, I'd give it a second look to see if one of the colors might work really well for your room.

This last one looks pretty interesting. How tall is it and what is the color and material described as? I think this last one might be my favorite from today, followed by the first one from today.

I am leaning towards metals as it is too hard to match colors

With carpeting, a rug sure isn't needed. Maybe live with the new furniture for a bit and see if you want a rug. Once you have nice lighting, the room will look very, very nice as is.

We will be getting hardwood floors next month. these are very old rugs
