How about one very large 15-20" diameter pendant over the island? If you were to install multiple small pendants, they might clash with the chandelier over your dining room set, which look like pendants too.

Well, at almost 8', your island can certainly handle a pair of them. Another idea is to use pendaliers. These have mercury glass accents that adds a bit of a vintage feel to the space. or possibly glass diffusers with an oil-rubbed bronze trim to tie in with the other fixtures.

I like your suggestions. Perhaps 2 glass pendants to keep it "light", but similar finish as other lights. Should I keep light over sink? I am not a huge fan of it and ok to see it go. My husband may have just rolled his eyes.

Okay - here is a rough rendering of the newberry pendants - set of two and set of three (they are 11" in diameter) i added the wall mount wall sconce above the sink on one of the photos. Will post a few other series pendants shortly.
