The lucite table will work, but have you considered an oval table? Or an ottoman (maybe leather in a complementary color (or fabric) and maybe nailhead trim) with a large tray covering the top? That way, it can serve two functions.

agree with snc123, I would like to see a large square ottoman which works for putting feet up and also an area where everyone has a place to lean forward and put a drink down.In asia they use small sofa tables or trays on the couch as well, where you can place your drink.

something traditional will work better in the space and the décor you have going on already.

Abbyjean I like the one I have too but losing it in a divorce. I thought about just buying something similar but always loved the lucite tables and figured it was a chance to do something new.

Sooooo sorry, and you are right. Get something totally different! Just make sure that beautiful rug can still be seen and appreciated. I do like the ottoman on legs suggestion.
