Have you ever checked out a 'tiny house'? This is something that has become popular with some in the United States. Its pretty cool the way people are able to maximize space.

With my mental make- up, I could never live in under 200 square feet. Claustrophobia would set immediately. On a very temporary basis, I could handle it, but not
permanently. I admire those who do well in microun-units.

where is the kitchen space? and the bathroom setup?

You have done a great job with your tiny living quarters. I assume the white wall above the brown sofa is the bottom of a Murphy bed and is boring. I suggest you find a colorful tapestry or thin rug and staple it to that area. It will stay in place when the bed is down and provide color when it is up. A hint about the cooking odors...put out small bowls of white vinegar and peppermint before cooking and use a small fan to circulate the air.

good ideas sepperson, here is another one......a mural, if one is an artist or knows someone that is....would be awesome. Like the scent idea. i have seen a collage of pictures as well. Still, i don't hear anything about the bathroom/kitchen..

No I don't live in a microunit, however, I have given it a lt of thought and plan to downsize down the road to a tiny house in the woods. As to the kitchen I hope they don't have a full blown stove because it would really heat up the tiny space. My plan is to buy a good compact convection oven like Kitchenaid or Breville, a compact microwave oven and a double burner induction cooktop by True induction, a mini Keurig and a decent size fridge with an ice maker. With the right shelving for the microwave, a cabinet below that can house the convection oven at the bottom and the induction burner on top you get all the cooking appliances you need in a 24"wide x 15"deep area. Add to that a prep area. And, these appliances are energy efficient and put off much less heat than a stove.

know what your layout will be? closet storage?

Go to either the TINY HOUSE web site or TINY HOUSE DROOL---not connected as far as I can tell---but both have tons of different structures from re-purposed buildings; barns; sheds etc to custom built tiny houses on wheels--or not! Tiny House Drool has a better layout for looking over more places at one time and then you click thru--Both have a lot of links to people who have built their own or have been living in one for awhile who share likes and dislikes.

Aside from the people on those sites who share how they built theirs INSTRUCTABLES has a number of builders who have done step-by-step guides to these and other space saving projects--and don't forget PINTEREST! RV sites and searches also can give you lots of hints and tips and plans on how to store what in very restricted space or how to cope with things like cooking in enclosed areas.

We don't live in a micro unit... Yet! I have designed a 400 square foot house on wheels that we would like to build in a year or two. Anybody know where we could park it in Dallas??
