You need something DARK on the top to balance the darkness and weight of the mirror with this table. Dark wooden bread bowl? Basket tray? Maybe a dark pot with an orchid for the corner edge of it?

Guessing the bottom needs to stay open due to the registers there?

Paint the electrical receptical and baseboard the same color as the wall -then as abbyjean suggested an orchid live or silk and remove everything else from the console.

Could the base of the table be painted to match the mirror....or vice versa?

I would also take down the pics on the other wall that you said did not have to stay since they are so much the same size as the mirror.

Do you suggest I replace it with something else or leave the wall empty? Also, I thought of getting one x stool to go under. Maybe it will balance the mirror a little. Thank you for the comments.

I would NOT put anything on the wall by the mirror where the pics are now. Too much to look at in the small space then.

Might sound soooo silly, but would you try turning the bench the other direction and repost? The x gets lost this way and the leg matches the table too much.

Remove the candle and slide the pile of books down that way a big instead.

My eye tells my mind to wait for it... wait for it.... That big, heavy mirror is going to fall and break that skinny little table! Second thought; is there something more interesting than the staircase to be doubled by the mirror? Maybe that chandelier in the dining room needs to be reflected more than the stairwell! Then you could turn the table to the other wall and put that funky postcard and photo stuff above it for a fun intro to you, your style and your family - that's what foyers are supposed to do.

The bench is too long to fit the other wall. I removed the candle and can always move the x bench to another room if its too much.

I find the mirror is too large and heavy for the table and the size of the wall. Too bad about the bench being too large for the other wall as I could see it working well with the mirror. Can you try the table on other wall and perhaps purchase a smaller/lighter mirror and find a place for this mirror elsewhere? Thought a silver framed mirror may be nice.

Sometimes the stuff we have is just ready to move along and be replaced by something that really works for us. This might be the case with the table.

if u want to keep the table - mirror needs to have silver frame or no frame
if u want to keep mirror- table needs to have wooden legs

I'd hang the mirror so all of the chandy is reflected. Might be horizontal, but for height's sake I usually prefer vertical. Might also depend on whether there is a buffet, sideboard or shelf beneath it.
