I think you may have gone a little overboard with the black scheme. Buy and area rug with some additional colors - either bright colors or go black gray brown and maybe mustard and replace the red pillows.

Wow. That was some serious wallpaper. The room looks a lot better now. I agree that adding a rug would give some additional texture and interest.

There is no black it's grey. And the cushions are pink not red. I do plan on buying a rug I just haven't got round to it.

Yes, that was a definite statement wallpaper! Looks much better and I think it's a nice balance with modern and traditional. I think the dark ottoman is what tips the balance for me. The shape and size are nice but a color or pattern in a lighter shade would add some nice contrast. You have some really nice detailed woodwork and crown moulding that would look great if just a shade of contrast between the moulding and the wall color. Such a nice room to work with, enjoy.

Nice job! I, too, love an area rug to "tie the room together" (Big Lebowski) -- + while painting out the molding + trim, for contrast, would look nice, I'm kind of loving the all-one-color trend that I keep seeing. yip Jean the removal of the wall paper was pretty hard work. It was the same type of wall paper in our dining room too. Both rooms had to be re-plastered as we discovered many holes behind the wall paper and lots of crumbling. The house is 150 years old so we kind of a expected this. The windows have just all been replaced so they are in good condition x Thank you x

My home is 100+ years and every DIY project always takes an unexpected turn lol We have bead board walls behind our dry wall which we hadn't expected to find when we took down some crown molding to dry wall a drop ceiling that was falling down. The joys of old homes! Would love to see more photos of your home/projects!
