Position of sink

My designer tells me that with Formica countertops the sink has to be installed "on top" of the counter. This is not the case here. Is she mistaken?

Hi, michelepatry56. The countertop in this image is Formica® Solid Surfacing. Solid Surfacing truly allows for any kind of sink installation; undermount, overmount, integrated-you name it! Your designer may be thinking about Formica® Laminate, which actually CAN have an undermount sink, but specific parameters and processes must be met/followed to achieve the look.
