Stylish laundry chute/egress window

I have a simple 12'x12' room with only one means of access egress; which technically makes it an office or something other than a bedroom. You need a closet, (which I removed) and two means of access egress, four walls, ceiling, floor, light, heat source, door, trim, ect. This is going to become my wardrobe, (california closets) with a murphy bed. That is the reason for the closet removal. The room is surrounded by the hallway, where the door is of course, the living room, a bedroom, and the garage where the washer and dryer are located. I would also like to let some natural light into the room without being able to see in, because it is a pitch black blackhole when walking down the hallway; and living in Fairbanks Alaska you need to add as much light as possible whenever possible. I was thinking of installing a stained glass sliding window in the direct middle of the far wall as you walk into the room because the room is square, connects to the garage; and would make an excellent laundry chute/egress frosted window with some black writing on it. It could be in a section above a drawer, under a shelf, and in-between hanger rack units. But. I was also thinking of some kind of secret hide-a-way passage built-in shelving unit in the living room. I have not been able to find one sweet pre-manufactured laundry shoot on the interwebs, nor was I able to find any cool, neat, interesting, authentic, well made pictures of a homemade version. I know you might be asking yourself, "Self... Why is he concerned about making the room a technical bedroom whilst removing the closet, isn't that like an oxymoron or a paradox or something." and my simple answer is that you don't need a closet to escape from a fire, while a closet would do little to thwart said fire. Also, why do you need a closet if the room is pretty much a big closet that I like to tell my friends, "And this is going to be my wardrobe." while sounding all snooty with my best; "Buffy call the poor Kennedy's and ask them to come over for lunch. God only knows when the last time they've had anything decent to eat." voice? My even simpler answer is, it's close enough. So quit asking yourself silly questions and attend to the task at hand. If anyone even reads these things, thank you for reading my ramblings and contemplating my actual dilemma, because most other peoples problems are such inane little petty trivial trifles that they don't deserve the attention mine do.

Sincerely,
State Of Alaska Commissioner Of Financial Detrimental Distribution and Attache to the Alaskan Ambassador to France
