I'm leaning towards neutral colors, perhaps lighter gray? The windows are North facing so sun light will be present throughout most of the day. What color scheme will complement the sunlight and light wood flooring?

Do you like the restoration hardware vibe at all? I suggest you walk through their store so you can check out their greys. They have a good collection of grey paints which are perfect for a masculine/bachelor pad vibe.

A light grey would also look great with a feature brick wall which you could also paint white if you want a cleaner look.

It really depends if you like a light airy space or a dark cosy look. This is the dark one!

Yes the restoration hardware look seems perfect! Particularly their brown leather couches. I noticed a lot of craigslist ads In LA that are selling RH furniture claiming to be outlets or wearhouse surplus. Anyone have experience with this?

A lighter wall color would be preferable.

I think the RH look goes well with bright white walls as well.
Grey would be a commitment where as white would be easier to grow with. Of course, if you get bored of grey you can always paint your walls white but by then you would have made a lot of furniture choices based on grey.

Brown leather furniture and a light gray or light taupe/gray walls are a beautiful combination. Very masculine, yet modern. Both are good for walls under most light conditions and are very versatile neutrals. Check out the photos below. As far as craigslist LA or RH, all you can do is check it out. If you purchase furniture in solid colors, you'll have the advantage of picking a wall color after the fact. But if you purchase furniture with a specific color (or art, or an area rug, etc) keep in mind that your wall color will need to follow suit.

Hi---congrats on your new space! I suggest picking a color, gray and taupe are popular and neutral. Select a color chart and pick 3-4 colors on that chart and use that color palette throughout your home. When choosing furnishings, keep those neutral as well-add interest with toss pillows, window treatments, rugs, art, etc. Good Luck!

After going through a few stores in the RH/C&B/CB2 category here in LA, I've begin to realize that the one piece of furniture I need to have is a leather armchair/club chair. The Starbucks/cigar lounge atmosphere, with the exception of the dark aura, is quite appealing and something I hope to aim for.

I was thinking a cream couch, two leather chairs with accompanying furniture; coffee table, media stand, liquor cabinet, and a few main piece artworks. Still unsure what color/scheme of shelves, cabinets, coffee table would complement the cream couch and brown leather club chairs. Any suggestions? Thoughts on what I am currently gravitating towards?

A cowhide rug in contrast or a neutral shade for a muted feel would be a perfect fit.

Or the Moroccan trellis rugs that are all the rage now. Easily available in most discount stores now - home goods, TJ MAXX.

Also don't ignore the evergreen persian rug in a deep blue or red for some warmth. They lend themselves well in feminine as well as masculine spaces.

Tim...you're going in a great direction! I'd go with a tan sofa, as opposed to cream. Leather looks a bit too heavy next to a cream sofa, but it complements a tan sofa beautifully. The color of the tan sofa in bottom right photo is right on. In fact, the general color scheme in that photo is really sharp.

If you're leaning light colored sofa, either leather or slipcovers, life does happen, and you will want wipe able or washable if it is a solid light color.
