if you want to wow a guest, please change that light. hang some art on the left wall in picture view. how do you get over there? walk on that small ledge? i would put shelving there and put in some pieces you adore and want to look at every time you walk down the stairs. floating shelves. you could do a flush mount, a small hanger, or what i would do is the serpentine light from cal lighting, so you can light the shelves, art and stairs.
