Hmm. Have you enlisted the help on an interior designer or architect? It all depends on the size of your kitchen and how big you will make both islands. I think it's a great concept and will be very unique. It could also be very practical having one for food prep and one for food display. However, if your kitchen is not big enough, it could turn out to not be practical. If it doesn't seem to work out, maybe you could consider a U shaped kitchen island which would allow you to have two different sides. Hope this helps and good luck! Thank you both for your comment! My kitchen is about the 11 x 13.5, without cabinets, with it is 11 x 17.5. Any other feelings about it?

May I suggest one island but have it a tad larger with a bar style that faces the dining room. This way your room looks more open then having two islands. Also for entertaining this is an excellent way to incorporate everyone from kitchen to the dining room.

Oh I like that idea!! with my size of kitchen what size of island would you suggest. Also, I just want to clarify, do you mean the bar would be in the direction that we would face the dining room when we eat?
