We are putting a wall-hung toilet into a guest bath to save space. This bathroom will be fairly heavily used (it's the only bathroom downstairs). I am trying to figure out which areas to tile and which to paint, and I am debating having the wall behind the toilet painted. I did some searching and have seen photos on Houzz of paint behind wall-hung toilets, but I can't help wondering whether the wall will get...hmmm....let's say overspray, and will be difficult to clean. (Since the tank is inside the wall, there really isn't much between the bowl and the wall).

In my master bath I've used Ben Moore Aura Bath and Spa paint on the wall behind my towel warmer, and I find that even water drops from people reaching for the towel leave marks on the paint (it's a darker color, but I am considering darker colors in the guest bath).

If not paint, I am trying to figure out how to lay out tile to have some sort of if not symmetry, then at least a repeating pattern.
